Navigating Homelessness For Business

Join us on November 12 for a session all about experiencing homelessness for members of the business community.

This session is brought to you in collaboration with the GAP Committee, an organization in Durham dedicated to preventing and ending homelessness through education. Demystifying homelessness is the first step toward finding realistic solutions.

The Clarington Board of Trade (CBOT) and the Municipality of Clarington recognize the importance of providing a platform for Clarington businesses to share experiences, learn, build tools and resources, and create awareness around homelessness. Since Fall 2022, CBOT, in partnership with the Municipality of Clarington, has hosted three sessions on navigating homelessness with a community-solution approach. Our last session, held in May, highlighted the function and impact of Durham Region Social Services and the Homelessness Outreach Team, providing valuable resources to the business community.

Why Attend?

Engage in a realistic vs. perceived examination of homelessness and connect with community leaders and resources working to prevent and end homelessness.

8:00 AM: GAP Committee Overview – Mission, education, community engagement, addressing gaps, and realistic solutions
8:30 AM: Personal lived experience exercise
8:50 AM: Personal story from someone with lived experience
9:05 AM: Q&A Session
9:20 AM: Wrap-up, feedback sharing, and next steps
9:30 AM: Open platform for 1-on-1 conversations with community leaders, including DRPS, Durham Social Services, GAP Committee members, politicians, and local businesses
10:00 AM: Event concludes
